DRINKING: IN PUBLIC

Being of age but not looking it is a tricky and weird thing. A month before before my birthday I was in Europe, specifically Paris and Italy. Both did not seem to mind, nor question my age. I thought this was very strange but enjoyed it. Then again I was always with someone who looked of age. Sometimes that reaction seems to be the same here. Days after returning from Rome, I celebrated my 21st birthday and ordered a Dirty Shirely (Alcoholic Shirley Temple). I did not get carded and I was pissed! Most people would like to get carded at least on their birthday, as it is a symbolic thing! Now it is just annoying! Everytime I take my ID I don't need it and when I forget to, I cannot get served. It is just a hassel to pull it out for no reason. But I am always with other adults such as my parents, grandparents, etc. I seem not to get carded and I assume it's because the waitor thinks I would not have the balls to ask if I was underage.

Now another very weird, maybe not as annoying, more entertaining honestly. The people in the room that are trying to figure it out. Is she old enough or not? Days after my birthday, I went to Bubba Gump's with my parents, to celebrate my birthday with them, as I had celebrated with my father the day of. There was a whole table of teenage girls that had watched me order and recieved my drink. The whole table was debating if I was of age and if not, could they also get away with it? It was the funniest thing. Also in the middle of dinner our waitor got off, so his shift was taken over. The new waitress didn't know if she should ask for my ID or not since I already had my drink I guess. You could tell she was struggling to figure out what to do. To be honest, I love when people have these debates just because I know I am old enough and that I can legally drink what's in front of me. It's also just fun to watch them think about it. I noticed a lot of people at my brothers wedding while talking to me or my family. I can tell by the way they look at me and listen to what I say to help them determine my age. I feel like I am rambling now, so I will just call this it and hope you enjoyed my thoughts. I will continue this with my drinking tolerance if you're interested in that.

XO
