FLU/FLU SHOT DISCUSSION

I wanted to have a little discussion about the flu and the flu shot as I just got my shot about 30 to 40 min ago. Feels a little sore, like a tattoo does the first week. Nothing too bad. BUT it seems like every time I get the shot, I get the flu. The shot is supposed to prevent the strain in said shot or lessen the effects of the virus in general (i.e. other strains). None the less, I DO NOT WANT THE FLU!!! I have had he flu numerous times and with each season it seems to get worse. The last time I had it (not totally accurate as I may have mistaken the flu for a random illness) I passed out in the grocery store. 1. Passing out is not fun (I've done this numerous times as well) 2. People don't react well to it 3. The store itself acted like I cut my arm on a broken cart and was bleeding everywhere, some dramatic injury. They wanted to call an ambulance, I had to sign papers saying I wouldn't sue them. But I did get free Mcdonalds! The next day I went to the doctor and found out I had Strain A and would most likely have Strain B soon after, which I did!
That is my most dramatic flu story! The others were pretty normal...dramatic or not the flu sucks! The week of Halloween, the proffesor was urging us to get the shot, because flu season is upon us and how important it is to get it. A girl and I were talking about a man that had come to the hospital the night before Halloween. He had the flu a couple weeks prior and was now disoriented, they thought he might have possibly had pneumonia, but no one really knew why he was suddenly so sick, unfortunately the man passed away Halloween day. I found this out because we hosted a Halloween party and his 6 year old daughter was in attendance (If you pray, please pray for the family).
So given these two stories, how do you feel about the flu shot? Do you think it is a necessary risk? Do you think it should be mandatory? Or do you feel it is a waste of time and possibly money? I have mixed feelings about it, maybe all the times I have gotten the flu would have been much worse without the shot? Maybe the man I mentioned might be alive today, or maybe not. I think the flu shot can be helpful in certain instances but not in others. So please tell me what you think! Leave a comment in the comment section below and let's have a discussion!
